Itsy Bitsy Yoga
March 31, 2008 |
When I was pregnant my doctor always tried to get me to go to pregnancy yoga. I was never really into it. I had taken a yoga class when I was in college and it just was never really my thing. After I had my children I met a few moms here and there who were taking their kids to baby and toddler yoga. They loved it. They said it was the reason their kids were so calm. I generally had the roll your eyes and say whatever type of response to them though, but now, well now I would say I take them more seriously.
I recently had the opportunity to read through the book Itsy Bitsy Yoga for Toddlers and Preschoolers by Helen Garabedian and it has completely changed my opinion about toddler yoga forever.

What I learned from this book is that yoga can be fun and enjoyable and it also can be an activity that brings you closer to your children. Throughout Helen’s book she shares many yoga-centered activities that are easy to do and seem more like play than anything else. She also shares stories from her own life as to how she came up with many of the yoga poses she uses. I found that when using these yoga activities my kids not only laughed and smiled and had fun, but it really did aid in calming them down! They seemed so relaxed and mellow after doing some exercises which I am sure we can all agree is a blessing to moms everywhere.
The book is an easy to read, easy to follow, fun and enjoyable manual in teaching children basic yoga. As you go through it you will laugh, you will smile, and you will learn that your kids are even more fun than you already knew they were - and your kids will learn that mommy is even more fun too!
If you have ever thought of taking your children to a toddler yoga class and shied away from it because of cost then Itsy Bitsy Yoga may be exactly what you are looking for. Books are affordable and bring the class right to your living room. And if you want to take the chance at winning your very own copy then please pop on over to the BlogMommas Bloggy Goodness page and see how you can - I’m giving one away!
