Soda Pop & Pancreatic Cancer

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – People who drink two or more sweetened soft drinks a week have a much higher risk of pancreatic cancer, an unusual but deadly cancer, researchers reported on Monday.

People who drank mostly fruit juice instead of sodas did not have the same risk, the study of 60,000 people in Singapore found.

Sugar may be to blame but people who drink sweetened sodas regularly often have other poor health habits, said Mark Pereira of the University of Minnesota, who led the study.

“The high levels of sugar in soft drinks may be increasing the level of insulin in the body, which we think contributes to pancreatic cancer cell growth,” Pereira said in a statement.

Insulin, which helps the body metabolize sugar, is made in the pancreas.

My father used to drink Cokes when I was growing up like they were going out of style. Coke & Dr. Pepper Products are family drive-thru favorites. As with everything in this life, moderation has to be the key. If you are a soda pop drinker you might want to consider switching to water. It’s so much better for you in the long run. Save the soda pop products for special occasions.

This Is A Joke, Right? (ie: Abortion)

There is an online game show about abortion – can you believe it?

Are there any Pro-Life blogs that would like to join this health directory? I would like to start a Pro-Life section because apparently these unborn babies do do not have a voice of reason to stand up for them.

It would be my honor to be able to begin a “Pro-Life” section on this CheckupToday.com Health Directory. If you know of anyone that you think might be interested in participating will you leave a comment and let me know?

Maybe you can let all of your “Pro-Life” blog friends or “Pro-Life” peeps that run “Pro-Life” sites know about our directory so that they can participate.

Thanks Guys!

PS I think we’ll call the category “Choose Life” instead of “Pro Life” – I like the ring of that so much more. Let me know what you think or if you think there is a better phrase for this section.
